FROM COMMISSIONER SCOTT ELLIS, 2ND AMER. BASKETBALL LEAGUE
Should we also postpone the draft a month, too?
Some of our coaches don't get the cards. Since the computer game is coming out about a month later than normal, a couple of our coaches have asked for the draft to be a month later, too.
I'm gonna put this one up for a vote. Vote "Yes" to push our draft back to Dec. 7, a date that will live in infamy, or "No" to keep the draft on Nov. 2.
I need your votes by 11:59 pm on Sunday, Oct. 5.
Steve Feldheim running a retro-PC Action Basketball league!
I'm gonna let him tell you all about it:
Hi everybody. I'm running a retro NBA (PC Action) league currently in it's 2nd year (66-67). Great era.. Wilt, Oscar, Reed, Barry, Havlicheck and more. 10 team league, 10 in real life. We are in the free agent draft right now. There is one team available (Cinncinati). They made the playoffs last season, barely. But it was partially due to an under activeowner. The roster is listed below, and attached, it's a pretty solid team. Anyone interested?
Season to start a month later this year due to late computer game
Due to the new computer game shipping in November, we cannot start our season on Dec. 1. So, we will start on Jan. 1 and move everything back a month. This also means being on time is more important than ever this year, because even if we finish right on time, we won't be playing the 2004 SABL Finals until July 1. Here's our new official SABL Schedule:

Cards shipping by end of month, computer game in November
Just got word from our very Strat-O-Matic insider, Akron Coach Dave Scott, that the new basketball cards will ship by Sept. 25. If you haven't ordered them yet, get on the stick and do it!
The new Windows computer basketball game is not gonna be out until November, though, and that will necessitate a change in the start of our league this year. Since the cards are coming out at their normal time, we don't need to change our Oct. 12 cut date or our Nov. 2 draft. We may even start the draft a couple of weeks early, just like we did last year. That was fun for everyone and it gave us all more time to mull over our choices.
But there's no way we can start the season on Dec. 1. It's a new game and we are all gonna have to learn it before we start our regular season.
BTW, Dave also is a playtester for the new game! He should really be able to give us some insights and tips!

If you have not paid your dues, you will be expelled on Oct. 1
Only a few coaches have not paid their dues yet, but if you are one of those, the clock is ticking. If I don't get that $15 by Oct. 1, you are outta' here. Rosters cuts are due on Oct. 12 and I don't want anyone in the SABL who is not committed to the league to have anything to do with a team. You show your commitment by paying your dues. No pay, no play. Just that simple.
Dues are due because in just a little more than a month, it will be time again to start planning for our 2003-04 season. Here is the schedule:
