Marbury sets playoff record with 63 points in Game 1 of SABL Finals

Game 1 - St. Lucie 160, Tri-City 122

The big news of this game wasn't that St. Lucie won - it was Tri-City's Stephon Marbury, showing why he's won the SABL MVP award a record three times by scoring a playoff record 63 points in this game. Marbury scored half his team's points, shooting 22-34 from the field, 7-13 from three-point land and 12-13 from the line. He also had 8 assists and 4 steals. He was simply unstoppable. Unfortunately for Chris Feeney's Blackhawks, Marbury couldn't do it alone.

Tri-City led for most of the first quarter, but once the Ace guns started blazing, it turned into a rout by the half. Getting to the game fresh from his latest court date, St. Lucie's Kobe Bryant scored 38 points and had 10 assists, with 5 steals. Jason Kidd had 26 points and Tim Duncan scored 22 with 11 rebounds. John Stockton scored 20 with 13 assists before fouling out in the third quarter. Yao Ming had 10 boards. Just about everyone got into the Ace act.

For Tri-City, in its first-ever SABL Finals, Ricky Davis scored 22 points with 9 assists. Stromile Swift had 14 rebounds.

Marbury sets playoff record - 115 points in Games 1 & 2 of SABL Finals

Game 2 - St. Lucie 124, Tri-City 96

Tri-City lost another Finals game, but once again, it wasn't Mr. Marbury's fault. He scored 52 in this one, with 7 assists and 6 rebounds, shooting 20-43 from the field, 8-16 from three-point land and 4-5 from the line. Incredible. But no one else on the Hawks scored in double-figures.

For St. Lucie, Jason Kidd's triple-double went almost unnoticed due to Marbury Madness. Kidd scored 24 points, had 12 assists and grabbed 12 rebounds. Kobe had 28 points and Stockton had 21 points and 11 assists. Duncan blocked 7 shots.

The action now shifts to Tri-City for the next three games. Will the rest of Tri-City's team answer Mr. Marbury's call to battle? Stay tuned.

St. Lucie beats Holcomb in Game 7 to advance to SABL Finals

Charlie Dillingham's Heat took it all the way to Game 7, but Game 7 was an Ace blowout to send St. Lucie for a record fifth time to the SABL Finals against Tri-City. The Aces also won a record fifth Classic Conference title.

Game 6 - Holcomb 106, St. Lucie 102

Tremendous defense from the Heat, as Big Ben Wallace blocked 6 shots and had 12 boards. Michael Jordan went nuts, scoring 37 points, grabbing 10 rebounds and dishing 8 assists. Jason Williams had 14 assists. David Robinson had 10 boards.

Kobe Bryant led the Aces with 25 points.

Game 7 - St. Lucie 127, Holcomb 98

Aces offense exploded in the first half, as St. Lucie led 77-56 at halftime. Kobe had 29 points and John Stockton had 12 assists and 18 points. Tim Duncan had 10 boards.

For Holcomb, MJ again had a fine game, scoring 27. Jason Williams scored 26 with 13 assists. Big Ben had 14 rebounds.

Now the scene shifts to the 2004 SABL Finals. Will Chris Feeney's Amazing Blackhawks win their first-ever championship or will St. Lucie set a new record for most SABL Final wins?

Stay tuned.

Tri-City beats McLean in Game 5, advances to SABL Finals

Ricky Davis hit a 3 pointer to send the game into overtime, and another with a minute left, to ice Tri-City's 133-125 win over McLean, and propel them to the SABL Finals for the 1st time.

Congratulations to Blackhawks Coach Chris Feeney, who is the 2004 Royal Conference Champion. It's Chris's first conference championship.

The Hawks now wait on the outcome of Game 6 & 7 of the St. Lucie-Holcomb series to see who they face in the final showdown of the 2003-04 SABL season.

Tri-City leads McLean 3 games to 1 in Royal Conference Finals

Game 1. The game was competitive all the way as no team ever led by more than six, but Stephon Marbury hit a three with under a minute left for the lead that the Nats could not surmount. The final score of 110-106 included two more free throws with :06 on the clock and McLean never got off a shot. Marbury led Tri-City with 25 on eight for 20 shooting and Ricky Davis added 22 (shooting seven for 21). Jerry Stackhouse led the Nats with 29, and Andre Miller, playing for the foul troubled Gilbert Arenas, had 20 points and eleven assists.

Game 2. This game was only in doubt because of McLean foul trouble (four players had three at half time), but that is easier to handle when sitting on a double digit lead. As it turned out, McLean won all four quarters, and the game 112-91. Larry Hughes had 23, and Davis and Marbury 17 each (a combined 11 for 40 from the floor). Stackhouse had 37 to lead the Nats.

Tri-City pumped in 68 1st half points en route to a 126-113 win over Mclean in game 3 of the conference finals.

With one game to go in Tri-City, the Hawks are one win away from going to their first SABL Finals. Stay tuned.

McLEAN TAKES TWO AT HOME FROM QUAD CITY

Game One. James Posey picked up two fouls in the first two minutes. This was bad news for the Nats because Mehmet Okur replaced him and had a double double by the end of the first quarter, leading to a 35-24 Quad City lead. The Rimrockers tenaciously held to this lead until 0:22 left, when the Nats took their first lead, 93-92, on two free throws by Brad Miller. The Rimrockers had another chance when Rashard Lewis was fouled with 0:06, but he hit only one of the free throws. In overtime, the Nats scored the first seven points and won 107-99. Jerry Stackhouse had 23 and Corey Maggette 21 as the Nats concentrated their offense against Lewis's suspect defense. Lewis led the Rimrockers with 18. Okur's 12 points and 14 rebounds led the Rimrockers to a 53-37 rebound advantage, but they only hit 42 percent from the floor and only one of 13 three point attempts.

Game Two. The Nats won relatively easily, 113-95, although the Rimrockers got within six midway through the fourth quarter. But Quad City foul trouble (the Nats had 45 foul shot attempts to only 5 for the Rimrockers) and 22 turnovers doomed their chances. Lewis was stellar with 28 (on 13 for 30 shooting; two for ten on threes) and Kurt Thomas added 23. Once again, Stackhouse and Maggette led the Nats with 24 and 21 respectively.

Three games in Quad City are next!
