2004 Regular SABL Draft Order is posted
Thanks to Player Agent Director Mark Long, it's at our 2004 Regular Draft Order link.
A couple of weeks ago, I mistakenly posted the 2005 Draft Order. We really can't post that until next summer because we don't know what the order is gonna be until next season is over, not to mention the plethora of deals that are gonna be made in the next 12 months.
If you need to know who owns what pick, however, you can always check our Rosters link to find out.
My apologies for the mis-post. I was out-the-door to my vacation and published the wrong worksheet.
But I'm back, now, baby!
Royals win 2004 SABL All-Star series in an amazing upset!
Down three games to none, one game away from losing it all, the Royal Conference staged the most amazing comeback in SABL All-Star history, roaring back to win their fourth All-Star series in the most exciting way possible!
Game 1
Despite 21 points by Ray Allen in an 8 minute 1st half
span, the Classics outgunned the Royals, 111-91, to capture game 1 of the SABL
All-Star series.
The Classics, paced by Gary Payton's 21 points, put 7 in double digits. Tim
Duncan (12 and 9) and Shaq (also 12 and 9) were a perfect 10-10 from the floor.
Duncan added 4 blocks for the Classics, who shot 56% from the field. If there
was any area to fault it would be the poor performance of the shooting guards,
Bryant and Iverson, who combined for 10-29 shooting, and were outscored 23-21 by
Allen, who played only 20 minutes. Stockton was the assist leader with 11, and
Ben Wallace grabbed 15 boards, and added 8 points.
Game 2
The Classic used strong 1st and 3rd quarters to capture game 2, 127-115. Bryant and Duncan had 25 points each, with duncan adding 13 rebounds. Shaq remained perfect from the field, scoring 9 points and adding 12 boards. Stockton chipped in with 12 assists. Iverson added 20, meaning the Classic shooting guards responded well to their poor game 1 showings. McGrady had 27, and Arenas 25 for the Royals.
Game 3
The Classics built an 18 point half-time lead and held on
for a 130-119 win. Iverson (22) topped 7 in double digits. Jordan and Shaq had
17 each, with Shaq adding 10 boards. Duncan posted 16-12 numbers. Ben Wallace
had 11 rebounds in 16 minutes of play.
McGrady again had 27 to pace the Royals.
Game 4
Pau Gasol, playing major minutes due to Nowitzki foul problems, tallied 19 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Royals to a 117-106 win, extending the All-Star series at least one more game. The Royals used a balanced effort with 9 players scoring 8 points or more.
Game 5
The Royals blew to a 44-21 1st quarter lead, and watched the Classic close to 6 after 3 quarters, before securing a 112-100 win in game 5. All Royals but Garnett (8 points) were in double figures.
Game 6
Ray Allen's 22 points in 22 minutes paced 9 Royals in double figures, and to a 134-121 series tying win over the Classics. Marbury had 17 with 8 assists, and garnett 10 points, 13 rebounds, and 7 assists. Iverson topped the Classics with 30 points, but it was not enough to overcome the Royals' 60% shooting.
Game 7
Rashard Lewis pumped in 23, Garnett had 17 points with 13
rebounds, Marbury 16 points with 8 assists, and 5 others tallied double digits,
as the Royal Conference came back from a 3-0 deficit to defeat the Classic
conference, 130-129, and capture the All-Star series.
Shaq paced 8 Classics in double figures with 29, but it was not enough.
As always, Davenport Dazzler Coach Kevin Feeney, the most Amazing Feeney in the SABL, had the honors and the fun to play this series again this year. He did a great job and was a witness to league history! Thanks Kevin!
SABL Executive Committee takes over
Today is July 1 and our new three-person SABL Executive Committee is taking over our league. What that will mean in the short term is that you'll probably be getting a lot of new email from Player Agent Director Mark Long and Operations Director Steve Walters. Please take those emails as official league communications, because they are.
Steve and Mark have agreed to help me share responsibilities and power by becoming part of a three-person Executive Committee that is now in charge of running the SABL. We will consult each other all time to try and keep the SABL running smoothly for years to come.
Our SABL Executive Committee is this:
Commissioner - Scott Ellis, still the final idiot in charge of acting "in the best interests of the league." I also will continue to run the website, etc.
Player Agent Director - Mark Long - Responsible not for making the rules, but the keeper of the rules, and the one who new members suggest new rules to and brings it to a discussion forum, recruits and orients new members, coordinates draft dates and times. Responsible for enforcing rules and penalties associated with misuse of players, responsible for overseeing any trade or rule disputes between players. Maintains rosters and trades.
Operations Director & Statistician - Steve Walters - In charge of overall league operations. Setting up the schedule, and making sure people are on schedule, maintaining the master league file, coordinates trade deadlines, etc.
While this will be a three-man committee that will vote on things and propose things, our league's rules and direction will remain the same - it's not a trade committee and our Constitution will still be basically the same. It's just a division of responsibility and work that needs to happen this summer so the SABL can continue to grow and prosper.
You will still be free to be the best that you can be in the SABL. That will never change as long as I run this league.
How Expansion Draft will work
No dates have been set for our Expansion or Regular drafts this fall yet. Player Agent Director Mark Long and Operations Director Steve Walters will probably decide those dates more than I do, since they will be handling many of those areas now. As soon as they decide, they or I will let you know.
As voted on last summer, the Expansion Draft will work like this:
Each team will protect 6 players. As soon as an expansion team picks one of your unprotected players, you immediately reclaim one. You must also send a "Reclamation List" of players, in order, that you would like pulled back, in case you are not available via telephone or chat room during the expansion draft.
This will continue until each Expansion team either gets a minimum of 8 players or a maximum of 10 players. Anytime after reaching 8 players, the Expansion teams can stop drafting and pick the rest of their players in the Regular draft.
Once the Expansion teams stop picking players in the Expansion Draft, all unclaimed players can be reclaimed by their previous regular team owners. If regular teams do not reclaim their old players, they will be put into the Regular Draft.
More specific Expansion and Regular Draft rules will be written by Mark Long and you'll be getting them soon.
