Although roster cuts aren't due for over a month yet (Oct. 6), Bettendorf Coach Mark Feeney has let Edney, Avery, S. Jackson, McPherson and Eschmeyer go. If any of those players have at least one minute in the NBA last year, they will have a computer card and will be eligible to be drafted.
Pau Gasol to go first in SABL's 2002 draft
Brooklyn Coach Steve Feldheim, who owns Davenport's pick, which is the first in the draft this year, has informed league offices of his intention to draft Pau Gasol number one on Nov. 3.
Sept. 1 SABL dues date is approaching! Mail that check today!
OK, only eight SABL coaches have paid their dues. Yep, I know it's hard to believe, but even after our annual dues were lowered 25% to a mere $15, some coaches still have not paid yet. It's the best Strat online basketball league value in the world, but we are in a recession, so I understand why some of ya' have not forked over this year's dough yet.
But . . . remember that you will not be allowed to draft unless you've paid your dues. So why not get that check in the mail today and make it out to your favorite Strat-O-Matic leader, me, Scott Ellis. You'll feel better.
Finney's Allen Iverson wins 2002 SABL MVP
The vote wasn't even close. The Longhorns' Iverson is hands-down this year's MVP. He set a new league PPG record this year (34.6) and led the league in steals (2.1 per game). He single-handedly led Doug Dillingham's team to the West Division title. Congrats to Doug and his Answer.
Garden City Gladiators franchise still available! Apply today!
Just contact your friendly neighborhood commissioner, Scott Ellis at scottie@adelphia.net, and you could be the proud owner of a franchise in the country's number one online Strat-O-Matic Basketball league, the Second American Basketball League! Email me today! It only costs $15 a year in annual dues!
Wowie Zowie!
If we don't get a coach to run the time before the draft starts, the commissioner (yours truly) will cut and draft for the franchise. If we don't get a coach before the regular season starts, the team will be on autoplay until we get a coach.
Classics rip Royals apart in 2002 All-Star series
The Amazing Feeneys have once again finished this year's All-Star series, but it was a brief affair. Although some of the games were close, the Classics won the series in four straight games, 120-106, 113-112, 109-108 and 115-104. Check out our All-Stars link for the box scores.
And thanks again to Kevin Feeney and his brood for playing this annual SABL tradition.
