The SABL BS

Volume 2 Issue 13 February 1997

FROM COMMISSIONER SCOTT ELLIS, 2ND AMER. BASKETBALL LEAGUE

So long, guys

Due to not paying dues, the following coaches are being expelled from the 2nd Amer. Basketball League:

Dave Plisko and Brian Seaman.

I wish all them the best of luck, especially our reigning SABL World Champion, Dave Plisko. If I receive their dues before Feb. 15, I’ll let them back in the SABL. If not, I’ll be announcing their replacement coaches in the next newsletter.

Thanks to everyone else who did pay. Just about everyone is pitching in to make the SABL work this year and we are all sharing the benefits of that effort. Thanks for that, too.

Also, we are getting good inquiries from coaches interested in joining the SABL. Though it may have looked bad a few months ago, I believe the SABL’s "new blood" will keep this thing going for many years to come.

Autoplay guidelines

When you have to autoplay games, remember, you’re only autoplaying the other team, not your own. You always coach your team. It’s other team that late or doesn’t have a coach that is autoplayed.

Schedule of events

In this mailing is a 1997-98 schedule of SABL events. Consider it our roadmap to a land of gaming enchantment.

New constitution

Next up, another revised Constitution for the old SABL. Hope to have that in your hands next month.

Penalty points

Now an unpleasant chore. Here’s the list of penalty points so far this year. So far, I’ve only given them for lateness in sending results and instructions, when I’ve found out about it. Most everyone’s been on time and even those who have been late are getting on schedule now.

The thing that kills a league the most is a few late coaches lousing things up for the majority of folks that do stay on time. I won’t let that happen. Here’s the bad news:

Ayala 6 penalty points

Seaman 4

Ellis 2

Plisko 2

Walters 1

If Plisko and Seaman do not rejoin us, their penalty points will not be passed on to the new coaches of their teams.

A fair warning: As of now, I’ll be giving points for lateness in reporting your team box scores stats to Steve Walters. Mail them on Feb. 21, because they are due to be in his hands by Feb. 28.

Gotta get this out

Due to computer problems, I have to mail this out now before the stats get too old. Hopefully next month we can get into some more team and player commentary.

I really feel good about the SABL’s future now. We are moving the right direction and the reason is because of you. We have some good coaches in the league and it can only get better from now on.
