The SABL BS

Volume 2 Issue 11 January 1997

FROM COMMISSIONER SCOTT ELLIS, 2ND AMER. BASKETBALL LEAGUE

All Star game

Let’s play an All Star 3-game series after the season is over, with players decided by a coaches’ vote based on entire season statistics. That’s my idea, let me know what you think.

Put your rosters on instructions

As a courtesy, you should put your current roster on every set of instructions you send out. That makes it easier for coaches to figure out who is on your team. This will be mandatory next season.

Wrong report

The following deal that I reported last issue did not happen: Feldheim trades K. Malone and T. Legler to Rodriguez for K. Johnson & C. Laettner. The jury is instructed to disregard that transaction.

Also, the trade of Robinson sending Mullin and Fleming to Seaman for DelNegro and B. Scott actually took effect Dec. 31, not Feb. 1 as I reported last month.

Wrong report

Another error, but this time it’s not my fault, honest! Two-time Defending SABL World Champion Dave Plisko does not have R. Addison on his team. He has S. Mitchell (MIN) instead.

This was another pre-season roster move reported to Tom that I didn’t know about. Like I said in previous newsletters, please let me know if my official SABL rosters are incorrect, because if I don’t know, neither does the rest of the SABL.

Statistic talk

Statistician Steve Walters will soon contact all of you on how to send stat reports to him. Some computer coaches are still sending paper box scores without accompanying game disk game files.

That’s a no-no you’ll start being penalized for in February. If you have any questions, call me or Walters. Here are the requirements:

Computer players must send both their opponents and Steve Walters: 1. Game file results on a disk. 2. Individual and complete game box scores on paper. Opponents are due their results immediately after each series. You have to mail Walters all your game files and paper box scores by the 21st of month.

Please send Walters both the games you play and copies of the game files and paper box scores that your opponents play. That way, in case another coach doesn’t send Walters his stats, we can still have all the results possible.

Dice coaches must send their opponents and Walters copies of the paper box scores.

Both dice and computer coaches have the option of sending opponents and Walters running team totals, but they are not necessary. I expect to have more complete stats to you in about 3 weeks, during our next reporting period, when everyone gets used to sending them in.

I’m harping on stats, dues and keeping on schedule because in February, everyone will be penalized or thrown out for not following this stuff. I want all of you to have fair warning.

Wrong report

We have a new coach for Ted Berquist’s team. He’s Charles Dillingham’s son, Doug Dillingham, at the same address as Charles! Please send all results and instructions to Doug beginning with Seg. 8, Feb. 1.
