Regular season is done, playoff pairings set!
After hours and hours of reconstructive surgery and autoplaying, the 1997-98 SABL Regular Season is finished! Check our our new final standings on our standings link. I'll be contacting you by phone and email about your playoff assignments.
You can send instructions to each other, play each other face-to-face, play over the phone or have a neutral coach play your playoff games. The only rule is that you both have to agree on the terms and you have to get these games played quickly. We got started two weeks late, so I want these games finished no more than two weeks late or they'll be autoplayed. Instructions must be in your opponents' hands by Saturday, May 23. Email or telephone me with your won-lost records as soon as you finish your series. You can email or snail mail me the actual box scores later.
Congratulations to these winners:
West Division - Tri City Blackhawks (50-32)
East Division - Blocher Bombers (40-36)
South Division - St. Lucie Aces (70-12)
North Division - Brooklyn Tigers (65-17)
Our playoff pairings are below. I'm not allowing any coachless teams into our playoffs, so check it out, you're probably in there! Teams on top have home court advantage and all series are best of seven, 2 -3 -2.
In Round 1, it's wild card time as Tulsa plays Seattle and Richmond plays Davenport. The winners there will take on the West and East divisional winners and the winners of those Round 2 games will vie for the Royal Conference Championship.
In the Classic Conference Round 1, Galactic takes on Calgary and the Heat play the Gearjammers. Winners there will take on the South and North divisional titleholders and the winners of those Round 2 games will vie for the Classic Conference Championship.
And finally, of course, the Conference winners will take each other on in the 1998 SABL Championship.

Tentative 1998 Draft Order
Until we know who is 1998 SABL World Champion, we won't know the exact drafting order or who is drafting last. However, here is a tentative list, which has already been penalty point and division-winner adjusted:
1. Panthers 2. Carbondale 3.Akron 4. Meade 5. Finney 6. Seattle 7. Bettendorf 8. Calgary 9. Motor City 10. Davenport 11. Richmond 12. Austin 13. Tulsa 14. Gearjammers 15. Holcomb 16. Galactic 17. Blocher 18. Tri City 19. Brooklyn 20. St. Lucie
Stats are screwy
Due to all the autoplaying and reconstruction of the season I had to do due to my computer crash, our final regular season stats, while better than last year, are still goofy. The won-lost records are 99% right, but our stats probably are only 66% right. I'll be posting the stats soon, however, in all their inaccurate glory, once we get the playoffs rolling.
