The SABL BS

Volume 2 Issue 40 May 1998

FROM COMMISSIONER SCOTT ELLIS, 2ND AMER. BASKETBALL LEAGUE

Commissioner returns from forced holiday

My apologies to everyone, but my computer went down about April 7 and I've just now put it back together reliably. Now you know how I feel when I don't hear from you all for weeks at a time! I'll post all our new stats and final standing soon.

Mike Saylor leaves, autoplay Maulers

Mike Saylor has quit the SABL, so that gives us another coach opening with another very good team! If you have any remaining games with Motor City, autoplay them immediately and get the game files to me ASAP. I'll be autoplaying these games any day now so I can get playoff assignments made.

Who's trading ?

Heat trades D. Harper to Finney for S. Mitchell.

This deal takes effect next season.

Regular Season over, remaining games to be autoplayed, playoffs start any day!

Except for the Motor City-Mike Saylor games, I should have everyone else's game files and results. I'm now autoplaying all remaining regular season games so we can get our playoffs going.

Penalty point amnesty

Our season ran much smoother this year than ever before, and our good coaches are the reason it did. In recognition of that, I'm cutting everyone's penalty points by half. That means if you deserved 10 points, for instance, you'll only get 5.

We'll stick to the letter of the law next year, but for this year, you all did such a great job, you deserve a reward. Let's make next year even better!

Penalty Point Report

Scott Ellis - 1 Mark Feeney - 5 Frank Rowley - 1 Chris Feeney - 2 Kevin Feeney – 2 Charles Dillingham - 1

Steve Walters - 2 Josh Marquardt - 2 Tom Gantert - 1 Nick South - 2 Dave Scott - 3 Leon Rogers - 3

Tom Jargo - 1

Computer crash wipes out league files

Due to a bad CPU that wrecked my hard drives (including my league backup drive), all our complied league stat files were lost. However, I do have a paper print out of our team vs. team won-lost records and Steve Walters gave me a copy of our SABL league roster files. Between the two sources, I can reconstruct our 1997-98 season and make sure the overall won-lost records are right. Some individual and team stats might not match up with what you have for your team on your own computers, though.

I have purchased a Zip Drive to backup crucial files on from now on, so this shouldn't happen again.

It'll take me a few days to rebuild everything. As soon as I get it it done, I'll let everyone know our final standins and playoff matchups. We'll be getting started about a week late, but should finish close to on time.

Our 12-team playoffs should be fun!
