FROM COMMISSIONER SCOTT ELLIS, 2ND AMER. BASKETBALL LEAGUE

Jeff Stahl’s stats

Here’s how I want everyone to handle Jeff Stahl’s Calgary Condor box scores: Please make a manual game file of each paper box score you receive from Jeff, put it on a disk, and send it me for importation into our website statistical database. Make sure you include complete individual player stats for both teams in every game file – just like the box score.

Remember, Jeff is our lone dice coach, so his stats are on paper box scores only. I don’t have time to manually create 81 game files, but if each of us does a few, it will be easy.

Don’t Delete!!!

When you are keeping up with roster changes in the SABL, remember not to delete players from a roster. Check the newsletter or trade list and TRADE the players.

If you delete players, the imbecilic programming of the SOM basketball game can’t handle it. Game files will not import properly. If you’ve deleted players instead of trading them, download a new league file from our web site and start from scratch. Be sure and copy your game files (.gfl) first so you can import them back in. I hope to heck you don’t have to do any of this stuff. If SOM had programmed the game better, you wouldn’t have to.

Tigers’ email

Steve Feldheim has seen the light and given up his AOHell email address. Email the Brooklyn coach at steeim@worldnet.att.net

Statistical tips

When you receive game and .prt files from your opponents, don’t copy them into your leagues directory unless you have to. Because of the game’s dumb numbering system, they will overwrite the files you already have, causing you to lose the files of the games you’ve played on your computer.

Just import the game files into your database and keep the game files in another spot on your hard drive (or keep them on the floppy disk) in case they are needed again. If you want to look at your away box scores, change the name of the .prt files before you copy them into your leagues directory, and then you can safely print them out.

Game file tips

When you manually create game files, be careful! After I imported all our game files this month, Eddie Jones of Davenport had a league record of 50 rebounds in game against Tri City on Dec. 7. I knew this was not possible, so I used Liquid Paper to wipe out that line off our league stat reports.

Little mistakes like this can really mess up our stats, so if you’re gonna make a game file, do both teams and do it right.
