The SABL BS

Volume 2 Issue 25 August 1997

FROM COMMISSIONER SCOTT ELLIS, 2ND AMER. BASKETBALL LEAGUE

Order your game!

Now is the time to order your SOM basketball computer game (and cards if you need them). I’ve placed my order already and should be among the first to get my stuff in mid-September.

Strat-O-Matic’s credit card ordering phone number is 800-645-3455.

Who’s trading?

Aces send Oscar Robertson to Galactic for Bob Pettit.

Galactic sends McIlvaine, M. Feeney's 1997 2nd pick and Galactic's 1998 first pick to Austin for Radja, Rozier and Austin's 1998 1st and 2nd picks.

Roster cuts are in

Aug. 15 roster cuts are now reflected on our website in the Draftable Players page. Everyone now has 14 players or less on their teams. Remember, if you don’t cut down to below 14 players and let me know of it by Oct. 25, you don’t get to draft!

Name your teams now

Only a very few of you have not yet named your teams for the 1997-98 season. I need your team names by Sept. 15 so we can make a schedule.

Dues & roster cuts

Almost everyone has sent in dues money and I thank you very much for it. You gotta pay to play and this season you will get your money’s worth from the SABL.

Get on The Net now

There’s only about three coaches left in the SABL that do not get all their league stuff via our Internet website. I’ll still be snail mailing those few remaining net-less coaches SABL newsletters and their 1997-98 league disks.

However, I won’t be mailing out monthly league stat packages anymore. Those and all other league stat files and standings will now be available only on our SABL website. To give you a glimpse of the future, check out our Standings hot link above this newsletter.

If you have a computer, it’s easy and cheap to access the Internet. If you want SABL stats and the latest SABL news, it’s the only way to go.

Real time SABL here

Now that our league is truly webbed, beginning next month, I’ll be checking my email and updating the web newsletter on an almost every day basis. If you check our website regularly, you’ll be in the know sooner. If you don’t, you won’t. The early bird will catch the worms. From now on I won’t be mailing out paper newsletters until I have at least a page of stuff to send.

If you use email or the phone to notify me, we can also push trade deadlines to the limit. And I also encourage coaches to send instructions and results via email, too. And send me your monthly stat reports via email. All you have to do is attach files via your email program. Call me and I’ll tell you how!

The SABL will never become totally paperless, but the primary means of communication for us now is the Internet.
