The SABL BS

Volume 2 Issue 22 June 1997

FROM COMMISSIONER SCOTT ELLIS, 2ND AMER. BASKETBALL LEAGUE

Finals underway

It’s a crosstown series as Steve Walters defeated Steve Feldheim 124-112 in Game 6 of their series to earn the right to face me in the 1997 SABL World Championships.

In the regular season, I beat Walters, who, along with Ayala’s team and mine, had the best teams on paper this year in the SABL, an incredible 6 of 6.

I continued to have Steve’s number in the finals, winning the first three games before Steve got in the win column with a hard-fought 109-106 victory. Until Game 4, when he scored 20 points with 10 rebounds, Hakeem has been AWOL , averaging 12.3 points and 4.3 boards. Pack has been heroic for Steve, averaging 23.3 points in Games 2-4.

For me, it’s been the Greg and Mike show, as Anthony has averaged 13.5 points and 9.25 assists in about 26 minutes per game. Jordan’s doing 21.5 points a game. Maybe I should’ve kept those guys.

Game 1 score: 137-119. Game 2: 108-104. Game 3: 115-98. I hope to have some stats to show you on the finals and other series later on this summer.
