The SABL BS

Volume 2 Issue 35 February 1998

FROM COMMISSIONER SCOTT ELLIS, 2ND AMER. BASKETBALL LEAGUE

Tom Gantert is fried

Well, not him, exactly, but his laptop computer is. If you have any games with Tom scheduled in Dec., Jan. or Feb., contact him ASAP for instructions for both the home and away games. You'll have to play all the games.

If you don't hear from him by Feb. 22, autoplay his team and email me the results ASAP.

Chris Feeney's email

It's amazing, but Tri-City Blackhawk Coach Chris Feeney has an email address and it's ChrisJRfee@aol.com. Use it in good health.

Email John Smith ASAP

If you have any games scheduled with John Smith's Carbondale Young Punks, email him now for autoplay instructions on his team. He should be back on schedule with us by March 15, but he is asking many coaches to autoplay his team on games that are getting real late. And let me know that you've contacted him so you don't get zapped with penalty points.

Updated standings are up!

The latest SABL standings are on our standings link. I've finally pulled ahead of the Heat at 38-8 and lead the South Division. Brooklyn is next best with a 38-12 record atop the North. Next comes the Heat at 25-10 for second place in the South, followed by East Division leader Blocher at 21-10. Steve Walters is fifth, at third place in the South with a 23-11 record, Austin is sixth best with a 21-15 record at second place in the East. Leading the West at seventh-best in the SABL is Tulsa with a 19-15 record.

Barring another penalty point, leading the Tim Duncan sweepstakes is Akron with a league-worst 7-27 record, followed closely by Seattle at 5-17, the Panthers at 8-26 and Carbondale at 8-23.

More autoplay games on the way!

Like I said last newsletter, most of us are keeping on schedule just fine. For the few that aren't, the SABL can't wait on you. No matter what your excuse, as of March 1 I'll start autoplaying or authorizing autoplaying of all games that are a month late to me. This includes our new coaches, too.

As it states in the SABL Constitution, it's each coaches' responsibility to take care of their games. If results or instructions are late, each coach must check with the late coach and find out what's happening. After that, you contact me or our website for autoplaying instructions. If you don't contact me, you are at fault, too. I'll dole out penalty points where appropriate.

And don't wait a month before checking on late stuff. That's too long. That could earn you penalty points. Check the constitution for the time frame. If you've read our newsletters and the Constitution, then you should know what to do. If you haven't, I suggest you do so before I autoplay your season and expel you from the SABL.

Lateness kills leagues. I won't let that happen to the SABL.
