Just in to SABL Playoff Central: Frank Rowley's Richmond Raiders lead Dave Scott's Akron Blimps 3 games to 2, with two games remaining in Richmond. Akron lost two of three at its own arena, shooting just 37 percent from the field in their two losses.

Gary Goldstein takes over Memphis Blues

Philadelphia's own Gary Goldstein is the new owner of the Memphis Blues. Gary's address is 118 S. Van Pelt, Philadephia, PA 19103. His phone is 215-864-6758 or 215-994-2529 and his email is GGoldsten@dechert.com. Phone or email him and welcome Gary to the SABL!

And just to let all our new coaches know: You can rename your team to anything you want, as long as it isn't obscene!

"Memphis" Mike Feeney calls it quits

Time constraints have forced Memphis Blues Coach Mike Feeney to resign from the SABL. This marks the first time one of the Amazing Feeney Brothers has ever the left the league!

Seriously, we wish Mike well and if he ever wants to return to the SABL, he is very welcome. This means we have another franchise available, so ask your friends if they'd like to be in this crazy hobby!

One thing I want to make clear - I am keeping the league's franchise teams at 20. I will not lower it to 16 teams. I believe that there are plenty of people around the world who would love to be a part of our league if they knew about it. I believe someday we will expand to 24 teams. But I will autoplay as many franchises as I have to to maintain our 20-team slots.

Mike's resignation has wiped out the penalty points his franchise accrued and that has changed the draft order. Memphis now moves up to third in the draft, while Tulsa drops to fifth. Please check it out:

Latest Draft Order: 1. Great Lakes (final) 2. Holcomb (final) 3. Memphis (final) 4. Chapel Hill  (final) 5. Tulsa (final) 6. Blocher (final) 7. Bettendorf (final) 8. Meade (final) 9. Davenport (final) 10. Tri-City 11. Garden City 12. Akron 13. Carolina 14. Galactic 15. Deerfield 16. Miles 17. Richmond 18. Brooklyn 19. Finney 20. St. Lucie

Galactic clips Tulsa 4 games to 2

The Galactic Thunder rumbled over Tulsa in games 5 and 6 to win its first-round playoff series. Galactic won 111-101 in Game 5 and 113-94 in Game 6. In that final game, Tulsa Tim Hardaway had 25 points and 10 assists and Joe Smith had 20 points, but it wasn't enough. Galactic's Terrell Brandon scored 22 and had 13 assists, while super-sub Chris Crawford scored a team-high 24 points in 17 minutes.

Galactic now goes on to play North Division champ Miles in Round 2.

Deerfield dumps Garden City 4 games to 1

Doug Crandal is headed for Round Two of the Royal Conference SABL Playoffs after beating Josh Marquardt's Garden City Gladiators 4 games to 1. Doug now takes on East Division champ Steve Feldheim, our defending SABL World Champions.

Tri City dunks the Davenport Dazzlers

There's only one Feeney left in the playoffs as Chris Feeney's Tri City Blackhawks bested brother Kevin Feeney's Davenport Dazzler's 4 games to 2. Unfortunately, due to a computer glitch, I don't have the game results.

Tri City now takes on the St. Lucie Aces, the team with the league's best record at 77-5, in Round 2.

Tulsa is tied with Galactic 2-2 in Round 1!

Hey! What's this Tulsa team doing in the playoffs anyway? Aren't the Twisters drafting third, for crying out loud? Well, Tulsa has beaten Steve Walters' Thunder 2 out of 4 games so far in Round 1.

Galactic won Game 1 114-89. Galactic's Ewing scored 20 and took down a playoff record 22 rebounds. In Game 2, Tulsa won 117-103 behind 26 points from Big Country Reeves and 24 from Tim Hardaway. Hardaway and David Wesley had 12 assists each! Wow! Ewing had 23 points and Richmond 28 points for Galactic.

Tulsa took Game 3, too, in a 116-115 thriller. Big Country had a whopping 42 points and Hardaway had 24 points. In Game 4, Galactic won 107-81.

Playoffs underway, Deerfield leads GC

Garden City, the franchise that went from worst last year to the playoffs this year, are facing elimination in the playoffs as Deerfield leads the series 3 games to 1. Stay tuned for more playoff news!

Welcome our new "Chinaman" coach!

Let's all give a big SABL welcome to our newest coach, Paul Bennett, a teacher at an international school in Tianjin, China. Paul is a Canadian who plans to leave China in about three months, spend the summer back in Canada, and go to teach in Thailand this fall. Paul takes over the Blocher Bombers.

Paul's been playing Strat since 1973 (all types) and currently plays baseball with his wife on computer. Paul's email address is pbennett@hotmail.com.

Paul's entrance into the SABL makes us global! It also makes us a true Internet league, because the only way you'll be able to reach him is via email. Mailing stuff overseas would take too long and telephoning overseas would cost too much. This means if you haven't done so already, you must learn how to attach and email files over the Internet.

Drop Paul an email and say hello!
