1999-2000 Season Predictions
Season number six is upon us. Behold my annual post-draft SABL prognostications:
ROYAL CONFERENCE - Predicted Champs - Philly Super Freaks
WEST
1. Deerfield Kings 2. Finney Longhorns 3. Garden City 4. Holcomb Heat 5. Meade
1. Philly 2. Akron Blimps 3. Richmond Raiders 4. East Asia Dragons 5. Great Lakes
CLASSIC CONFERENCE - Predicted Champs - Galactic Thunder
SOUTH
1. Galactic Thunder - Yes, I'm picking Steve Walters over me to win the division, the only post-draft change in my predictions. Why? Because a great coach strives to get even better, and that's what Galactic did in the trade mart after the draft, picking up yet another card stud, Tim Thomas, right before the trade deadline. Also, Steve and I have played numerous pre-season games and he matches up against me very well. See our 1999 Draft Preview for more reasons why the Thunder will steal the SABL's thunder this year, winning the division and Royal Conference for the first time ever.
2. St. Lucie Aces - Galactic passes better and has more wacky-good SOM cards than I do. That will be just enough to put me second, but I'm gonna try real hard to prove my prediction wrong.
3. McLean Nationals 4. Tulsa Twisters 5. Chapel Hill
NORTH
1. Miles Bulldogs 2. Davenport Dazzlers 3. Memphis Blues 4. Tri-City
5. Bettendorf - Meet the newest team in the SABL, the almost-completely-revamped Druids. More revamping still needs to be done, however, when your two best shooters (Harper and Mad Max) both shoot under 40%. And J.R. Reid was the best last player taken in any of our SABL drafts (though Bettendorf traded for him after the draft).
